Sin Locura…

Sin locura, no hay amor…

Without crazy, there is no love…

Many of us can relate to this in some way or another, those times when you think you are completely insane. You become obsessive or delusional and just down right crazy, which later leads to the question ‘what was I thinking?’ well without all these crazy moments of make-ups and breakups  where would we be, a monotone society of lull?

Sin locura, no hay moda…

Without crazy, there is no fashion…

Well my friends, the same applies to fashion, the catwalk would be one mundane place without a bit of craziness to liven up the show.  Also where would such icons as Lady Gaga be without her vestido de carne (Meat dress) or telephone hat? Vivienne Westwood would not be the great designer and icon she is today without a little (understatement?) quirkiness.  We don’t want to live in a world of black and white. My point here is a little imagination, although perhaps crazy at first, if you can pull it off it’s a sure-fire winner!

Most of the time we wonder who will actually wear this stuff being shown two seasons in advance on the catwalk, it is mind boggling to even think that far ahead however it never fails to please. I particularly want to draw attention to the Italian fashion company Blumarine. In its spring/summer 2011 line, we saw something which at first thought sounds slightly absurd… animal print yes… understandable. Peach and aqua colours, very warming and seasonal. Put them together…  and you get blumarine’s fashion line. Surprisingly beautiful and elegant. Who would have thought aqua and animal print would be such a good match.  I highly suggest checking out the line and deciding for yourself. Like with most ‘crazy’ fashion statements you’ll either love it or hate it.

Let lo0se with your fashion this coming spring and summer. It’s all about mixing (not matching).  If you like casual and trendy: check out  Pull and Bear’s website, which gives a weekly look for both boys and girls. This is a favourite shop of mine in Spain unfortunately they only have a few across the UK, but a great website to get some ideas for your next outfit. So, what isn’t in this season? Mmm… not much that I can think of!

Flower Power is once again go, animal print is slithering through to spring (the fashion we love to hate),  oriental styles are in but block colours are very the biggest statement. There are no rules… mix and match your fuschia, orange and green and there will be no fashion police turning up, only the paparazzi.
